As a Kitchen Helper, you will assist in the daily operations of the kitchen by supporting the kitchen staff with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly. Your role will involve performing various tasks to help with the efficient operation of the kitchen and provide excellent service to both kitchen staff and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation:
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring vegetables, fruits, and meats.
- Help with the assembly and presentation of dishes according to menu specifications.
- Follow recipes and instructions from chefs or cooks to ensure consistency and quality.
- Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen tools, dishes, and equipment, including sinks, countertops, and floors.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a hygienic work environment.
- Dishwashing and Equipment Maintenance:
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using dishwashing equipment or by hand.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs for kitchen equipment to the supervisor.
- Stock and Inventory Management:
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
- Help manage kitchen inventory, including checking stock levels and rotating products to ensure freshness.
- Maintain orderly storage of food items and supplies.
- Assisting Kitchen Staff:
- Support chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed.
- Assist in plating and garnishing dishes before they are served to customers.
- Ensure that kitchen operations are conducted efficiently and in accordance with safety and sanitation standards.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow proper food handling and storage practices to prevent contamination and spoilage.
- Report any accidents or safety hazards to the kitchen supervisor.
- Communication and Teamwork:
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve kitchen goals and maintain a positive work environment.
- Take direction from chefs and kitchen managers and perform tasks with a positive attitude.
Tasks
- Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables
- Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
- Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
- Place dishes in storage area
- Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
- Package take-out food
- Portion and wrap foods
- Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
- Take customers’ orders
- Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
- Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash
- Sharpen kitchen knives
- Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
- Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit

Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
