As a Computer Network Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems and equipment. You will work to ensure that network infrastructure operates efficiently and securely, supporting the organization’s technology needs and resolving connectivity issues.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Installation and Configuration:
    • Install and configure network hardware such as routers, switches, and access points.
    • Set up and manage network connections, including LAN, WAN, and VPN.
    • Ensure proper configuration of network devices and integration with existing systems.
  2. Maintenance and Monitoring:
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system backups.
    • Conduct routine network health checks and resolve connectivity issues promptly.
  3. Troubleshooting and Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
    • Provide technical support to end-users regarding network-related issues and questions.
    • Analyze network performance metrics and implement improvements as needed.
  4. Network Security:
    • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption.
    • Monitor network traffic for potential security breaches and take corrective action as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
    • Document network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
    • Prepare and submit reports on network performance, incidents, and upgrades.
  6. Vendor and Equipment Management:
    • Coordinate with vendors for the procurement and installation of network equipment.
    • Manage inventory of network hardware and software, including procurement and replacement.
  7. Collaboration and Training:
    • Collaborate with IT team members to support overall technology initiatives and projects.
    • Provide training and guidance to end-users on network-related issues and best practices.

Tasks

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks and computer workstations and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
  • Perform Web-server backup and recovery operations

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience in network administration or a related role.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
    • Knowledge of network security practices and tools.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with end-users and IT team members.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Physical ability to lift and install network equipment and cables.
